The Browning Challenger II was made from 1976 to 1982, the Challenger III was made from 1983 to 1985. The Browning Challenger II and III serial number should start with 655.

The next 2 letters are a date code, Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4, V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, M=0.

The first serial number used at the start of each year is 01001.

SO a serial number of 655PX01025 would be the 25th Challenger III made in 1983.

The Browning Challenger-II and Challenger-III may have a magazine release on the bottom of the gun or on the grip, the magazine on this page is made for both.
